Haiti STEM Alliance to Lead
World Robot Olympiad in Haiti
We’re excited to share a major milestone in our journey to expand access to STEM education in Haiti: Haiti STEM Alliance has officially been named the National Organizer for the World Robot Olympiad (WRO)—one of the world’s most prestigious international robotics competitions for youth.
This marks a turning point not just for our organization, but for thousands of students across Haiti who now have the chance to compete on a global stage, showcase their creativity, and reimagine their futures through technology.
What Is the World Robot Olympiad?
The World Robot Olympiad is a global robotics competition that challenges young people from over 85 countries to solve real-world problems using creativity, teamwork, and robotic innovation. Participants work in teams to build and program robots that address timely global challenges, from environmental sustainability to digital health and beyond.
The WRO is not just a competition—it’s a platform for youth to develop critical thinking, collaboration, and technical skills that will serve them far beyond the event itself.
What Does This Mean for Haiti?
As the official National Organizer, Haiti STEM Alliance will lead all national efforts related to the WRO. This includes:
Organizing regional and national qualifiers across Haiti
Recruiting and training student teams and their mentors
Equipping teams with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed
Sponsoring top teams to represent Haiti at the international level
We are committed to ensuring this opportunity is inclusive and accessible—especially for girls, rural schools, and underserved communities that are often left out of high-tech opportunities.
Who We Are
Haiti STEM Alliance is a flagship initiative of Pennies for Haiti, created to bring coding, robotics, and digital literacy to public schools throughout the country. Since 2017, we've worked across Haiti’s 10 departments to train teachers, equip classrooms, and inspire students to become creators of technology—not just consumers.
Our programs are designed to meet Haiti’s unique challenges, using offline-compatible, solar-powered tools, and building scalable, community-based solutions. We focus on students ages 8 to 18 and emphasize gender inclusion, innovation, and sustainability.
A Brighter Future Starts Here
Becoming the National Organizer for the WRO is more than an honor—it’s a responsibility we take to heart. We believe that Haitian youth belong in global conversations about innovation, and with the right support, they will not only participate—they will lead.
We invite schools, educators, families, and partners across Haiti and around the world to join us in this movement. Let’s build robots, break barriers, and code a brighter future for Haiti—together.
